Abstract Assignment - D Period Fall 2014

The images below are from the Fundamentals of Photography Abstract Project.  The students were asked to create images that show good use of light and shadow, as well as a strong use of design.  These photographs are ones the class thought stood out the most during our critique.  The name of the photographer proceeds the image.

Eleanor Dillon - Digital Photo 2 Portfolio

These images are a selection from Eleanor Dillon's final portfolio in Digital Photography Two.  Eleanor's work is a black and white study of a dancer done outside the studio.  Her interest was not only in the grace and form of the dancer but the abstract quality of the dancer in an outdoor environment.  These photographs were done during the Spring term, I have been behind in getting them up on our blog.  Enjoy.

Addie Johnson - Digital Photo 2 Portfolio

These photographs are a selection from Addie Johnson's final portfolio in Digital Photography 2.  The images are an exploration of an environment Ms. Johnson is all too familiar with.  She took a subject that is often photographed and looked for new ways of seeing it.  By focusing not just on the big picture, but on the details; Ms. Johnson has helped us see the equestrian world differently.  We can now enjoy the beauty in the patterns of the small things around the stable.

Madison Stewart - Digital Photo 2 Portfolio

These images are a look back at Madison Stewart's final portfolio for Digital Photography 2.  These photographs are just a selection from her portfolio.  While the images may look at first glance as highly manipulated in Photoshop, that is not true.  The portraits were done by using mostly makeup, paint and lighting.  These photographs are an exploration of ideas about masks, both real and imagined.  The images also make us think about the integration of field and figure in art.
